TVA aquatic biologist Jeff Simmons isn't searching for baseball cards or vinyl records—his passion is crayfish, a vitally important species in the Tennessee River watershed. Crayfish, crawdads, mudbugs, ditchbugs, mountain lobsters, or good eats. No matter what you call it, crayfish are an important bellwether species that Jeff Simmons — a TVA aquatic biologist — studies to measure aquatic health. The Tennessee Valley is home to one of the most diverse aquatic ecosystems in the world. bit.ly/35VhlD2#madeintn #tennessee #tennesseeriverwatershed ... See MoreSee Less

Whether you’re an avid birder or you’ve never seen a Sandhill Crane before, this time of year offers an extraordinary opportunity to witness a natural phenomenon that is truly unforgettable! Birds flock to the Hiwassee River Wildlife Refuge because it is the perfect combination of shallow water feeding and roosting habitat, with wet grasslands, marshes, and grain fields. The Sandhill Crane Festival was virtual this year, but you can head out to the Refuge in Birchwood and view these elegant creatures any time. Site Directions: On I-75, take exit number 25 in Cleveland, Tennessee. Travel north on Highway 60 through the town of Birchwood. Approximately 1.7 miles north of Birchwood, turn right on Shadden Road. Go one mile and turn right on Blythe Ferry Road. Take the next left on Priddy Lane and follow signs. // 📸: Debbie Clark Wildlife Photography #VisitClevelandYall #MadeInTN Tennessee Vacation ... See MoreSee Less
