A third audition date has been added! Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!🎩🌂👜Bang-A-Rang Productions will present “Mary Poppins” in March, and is now looking for players for the show, especially for children to be a part of the fun production. ☂️Based on the movie which introduced the world to Julie Andrews and included the talents of Dick Van Dyke, the first of the auditions for parts in the production took place on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Cleveland City Ballet studios at the Old Woolen Mill (445 Church St. SE, Suite 2201). A second audition will be on Friday, Dec. 2, at the same site at 6 p.m. A third audition date has been added and will take place on Dec. 3 at Noon. There have already been auditions for the roles of Mary Poppins and Bert/Mr. Dawes Sr. (Andrews and Van Dyke in the movie) though neither role is set. There are several other roles that need to be filled, according to Connie Gatlin of Bang-A-Rang Productions.“Thirty-one cast members are needed, as well as several children, with lead roles for Jane and Michael Banks,” Gatlin said. “Ages for the children are 7 and up, and we will be choosing groups of children for smaller sections of the show for singing and dancing.”Jane and Michael Banks are the children who Mary Poppins is hired to be a nanny for after their previous nanny did not work out. The trio, and Bert (who eventually becomes a chimney sweep), all have quite an adventurous time with each other.Gatlin said those who are wishing to audition for any part, whether it is for a child’s role or adult part, “should be prepared to sing a song — something bright and lively would be great.“And everyone will be asked to read a small section of poetry,” she added. The production should be “lively” as well, with songs that many remember: “Spoonful of Sugar,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”The production is a fundraiser for the Art is Here Partnership, and will be performed on four consecutive days (March 9-12) at the Dixon Center on the Lee University campus. Two read-throughs will be held in December and rehearsals will begin in earnest Jan. 2, 2023bit.ly/3q4L0o9#VisitClevelandYall #VisitClevelandTN #ArtIsHere #MaryPoppins Cleveland City Ballet Bang-A-Rang Productions Art is Here Partnership ... The 2021 MainStreet Cleveland Christmas parade attracted nearly 12,000 watchers last year, which may have been a record, and organizers hope to match and exceed that number this Saturday, Dec. 3! ✨🎄 Beginning at 6 p.m. from the staging area at Bradley Central High School, this year’s parade will feature around 200 entries! The gates for participants will open at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the high school, and they will close at 4:30 p.m. One position that is always set will be Santa Claus, who will be at the end of the parade. The downtown streets will be closed at 5 p.m. Saturday in preparation for the parade. The route remains the same as previous years: The parade begins at BCHS, then travels east on Third Street to Ocoee Street; turns north up Ocoee Street to the monuments where Ocoee and Broad streets meet; turns south onto Broad Street and travel to Inman Street; turns west and goes to Keith Street, where it will turn south and proceed back to the high school. Awards for participants will be made at the school parking lot, and will be announced in the Cleveland Daily Banner and on MainStreet Cleveland’s Facebook page and website at www.mainstreetcleveland.com.bit.ly/3UrgSidMainstreet Cleveland#VisitClevelandYall #VisitClevelandTN #ClevelandTN #MadeInTN #MerryChristmas ...
