Holiday events bring joy and glad tidings into every one’s hearts. When winter arrives, the tree lined streets of Historic Downtown Cleveland are illuminated with giant snowflakes and much cheer. It’s time for Parades, Tree Lighting, Downtown Shopping, Open House Events, and Carols in the City!  Although it is chillier than other seasons, winter in Cleveland is usually mild and full of things to do. Take a look at some of our favorite Winter Events and make plans to enjoy a special Christmas or an adventurous vacation later in the season.

Downtown Open House Shopping

It will be a busy Saturday in downtown Cleveland as merchants will be open for special holiday events. Many downtown merchants will be offering a wide range of unique products, services, and prices around the courthouse square. MainStreet Cleveland coordinates this event, for more information contact them at 423-479-1000 or visit the website at://www.mainstreetcleveland.com/.

Carols in the city

Mainstreet Cleveland lights the community Christmas tree and welcomes Santa Claus.  After the community tree lighting, the crowd walks together to each of the historic downtown churches for a musical presentation on the steps of each church. “Reverse caroling” is a charming way to start the holiday season. Always 6 p.m., the Friday night before the Cleveland Christmas Parade, which is the first Saturday in December.

Downtown Cleveland Christmas Parade

On a cool December night, enjoy the warm glow of lights from long line of beautifully decorated floats in the annual Cleveland Christmas Parade, always the first Saturday in December. The parade steps off at 6 p.m. from Bradley Central High School and winds its way down the charming streets of Historic Downtown Cleveland. Pick your spot and bring the family and a thermos full of some nice hot cocoa!
