The first Lasaters Coffee & Tea® opened in May of 2004. Mat Lasater founded the company in February of that year after moving from Bakersfield, California to Clarksville, Tennessee along with his wife, Annie. The first store, a drive-thru, was located on Riverside Drive near historic downtown Clarksville. Soon after, through dedication and determination, Mat and Annie sought to expand their coffee family and began the process of offering franchising opportunities.
Since those humble beginnings in 2004, LASATERS® has expanded to include seven additional locations. The original Riverside Drive location is now one of eight franchised stores. Four other stores are also in Clarksville: one on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, another inside Tennova Healthcare, one more directly off the interstate in Sango, and the most recent near Kentucky at Exit 1. Located outside of Clarksville are three more franchises: one in Cleveland, Tennessee, another in Mt Juliet, Tennessee and as of September 2016, downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The LASATERS® brand wouldn’t be what it is today without the awesome franchising family that has joined the mission over the years. We are so grateful for them and those who will hopefully join the family in the future. To help us on this journey, in 2014 Lasaters Coffee & Tea® was approved as a franchise listed on the U.S. Small Business Association Franchise Registry. We custom-roast our own coffees at our warehouse and roasting headquarters in Clarksville, Tennesse, and have won numerous awards (see below for a list *wink*). In addition to our award-winning coffee, we also offer a large selection of single-origin teas from ‘Rishi Tea’, including organic blends and herbal tisanes. Our locations offer a varying selection of soups, panini sandwiches, grilled wraps, breakfast foods, and sweet treats as well. A visit to any of our eight locations in Tennessee will be sure to bring a bit of happiness to your day.
LASATERS® strives to be a positive business citizen in each community it serves. We have accomplished this over the years through supporting, donating to, and serving local charities and community events. It is our mission to continue this effort in the days to come. If you’d like to learn more about our donation process, please visit our ‘Donation Requests’ page here and give our short Q&A a read.
In late 2017, Mat and Annie Lasater sold the Lasaters Coffee & Tea® brand and all its franchising rights to longtime franchisees, Ricky and Nicole Edwards. Ricky and Nicole were already part of the family as owners of three Lasaters Coffee & Tea® franchises in Clarksville, Tennessee, and lovingly made the purchase of LASATERS® under their company ‘Capulus Brands, LLC’. (Did you know “capulus” is Latin for “coffee”? #TheMoreYouKnow) They have high hopes and big dreams for the future of LASATERS®, as well as their new company ‘Capulus Brands, LLC’, and have already seen positive strides in the development of both. Cheers to what’s to come!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a bit. We look forward to seeing you in person at one of our eight Tennessee locales and getting to know you, too. Please help us continue our story by giving LASATERS® a follow on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. See you soon!
